Driving through the pretty town of Swellendam (at the foot of the Langeberge ) with its historic buildings and "old world charm", you do not expect to turn down a tree-lined road with a river running through it (and no there is no Brad Pitt near this river) and various little shops, restaurants, and cafés scattered on both sides. Every little shop has its own unique features and touches, thus making it the perfect place to shop for a unique gift or grab a coffee.

When you think of Swellendam, a spa is not really what jumps to mind.... but "O" how it should!
The tranquil surroundings make it the perfect location for this small, but trendy spa. 

Groen Spa Swellendam is a beautiful and tastefully decorated spa with a tranquil and intimate feel and unique art pieces by @artdeoliviaswellendam. The décor and art by - Art by Olivia, can be bought at the gallery next door.

The spa uses quality products and you feel pampered and special from the moment you are greeted by the friendly staff. The interior color choices and layout almost make it feel like your treatment is outdoors. Treatments are done by amazing therapists with expert knowledge. You truly leave feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and calm.

During our visit, we were treated to a relaxing back, neck, and shoulder massage, which was the perfect end to our mid-week stay at Joubertsdal Country Estate, just outside of Swellendam (Read our review of this lovely Estate with breathtaking views and an amazing wedding venue). After our treatment, we were treated to a lovely cup of green tea and a small gift. 


Groen Spa in Swellendam is a hidden gem and a must-visit on your next trip to the Overberg area. Make the spa visit part of your weekend getaway or just pop in for a quick massage when you pass through Swellendam, it's really worth it. Spa treatments range from Mani's and Pedis' to massages and facials. The spa also has an Aesthetic Doctor that is available some days.

We loved our spa experience and the small touches that make the space feel so inviting and intimate. We spent the remainder of the afternoon browsing through the gallery next door while enjoying a lovely coffee outside the gallery overlooking the lively street in this picturesque Overberg town. 

We love the area, the town, and the spa...if you are a local, I envy you.
